I've read so many travel tips about Cusco and how you should really take it easy on your first couple days there so that your body can get acclimated to the high altitude. You should rest and not exert too much energy. Although we were tired from traveling for over 24 hours, some of us were too excited to stay in and rest. All I needed was a shower and I was ready to start off my day. I had no worries about altitude sickness. I already had two coca candies and a cup of coca tea. I was ready. Hahaha. Thank goodness the altitude didn't totally kick my butt. I must say, it wasn't exactly easy to walk. The high altitude does make everything harder, but it was our first day there. We couldn't help ourselves.
One of the many markets of Cusco. This one just happened to be conveniently across the street from Eco Inn.
The first store we stopped at in the market.
Some of the beautiful things for sale.
More beautiful things for sale.
One of the beautiful buildings we passed on our way to the Plaza De Armas.
More of the buildings in Cusco.
The cathedral in the Plaza De Armas. Really beautiful, and even more beautiful in the evening.
Our first day went well. Some of us had some difficulty with the cold and the high altitude, but for the most part, we were okay. Just the start of our week in Peru.
