First Halloween

We were so excited... well, I was so excited about baby's first Halloween. I am always excited about Halloween. I love to dress up, but then I always have a difficult time figuring out a cool costume. And now with baby comes pressure. I couldn't figure out a cool family costume theme. And lately I haven't had the energy to even stay up in the evening let alone make some costumes for all of us. I was giving up. And then what do we receive in the mail? Costumes for all of us. =)

Todd, who is a dear friend of my sister inlaw, Kristi, sent us all giraffe costumes. I have never formally met him, I just know him as Mr. Nakaoka, the kid's teacher from Kahaluʻu. I've only really seen him at his house on Christmas Eve to look at his wonderful world of Disney display in ʻĀhuimanu. He also helped decorate for my baby shower but left before I arrived. But as a thank you for donating to a fundraiser for his niece, Kelci, he sent us giraffe costumes for baby's first Halloween, knowing that I loved giraffes. Such a kind and generous person. I can see how Kristi and Todd are good friends. They both have the most generous hearts.

Mama and Baby Giraffe

So, problem solved. We now had a theme. Baby had his whole costume, and we had giraffe ears and tails. It was so cute. But of course, leave it to me to want to make something. So we searched and searched for shirts for Tai and I and finally found something the night before Halloween. So there I was researching giraffe prints. OMG! I am so O.C.D. I never realized what a giraffe print really looked like. I didn't buy enough felt and had to stretch out the pattern. I was so bummed because it looked more like a cow print. Oh well, lesson learned. Don't wait till the last minute. But if anybody wants a giraffe costume, I know how to do it now. =)

We had a wonderful first Halloween. Baby seemed a little tired, but no fussing. We trick-or-treated to one neighbor's house and then went to Uncle BJ's house. Saw some cute costumes, but of course, we were the cutest. =) Thank you, Uncle Todd, for helping make our first family Halloween a success.

Excited about his goodies left at our doorstep.
