The Things We Do For Our Mothers

I love to go on trips, but I hate packing. Always gotta go through my checklist:
Clothes. CHECK.
Toiletries. CHECK.
Footwear. CHECK.
Big Island Candies. CHECK.
Chocolate Mochi. CHECK.
7 1/2 dozen duck eggs.

WHAT???!!!! Yes, that's right. 7 1/2 dozen duck eggs. Wish I were kidding. I wonder how many people go through airport security and have to tell them that they have 7 1/2 dozen duck eggs. They must've been thinking, "DAMN, she must LOVE duck eggs." Nope. I have never actually tried them. And even if I did, I don't think I would need 7 1/2 dozen. Hahaha. I laugh at it now, but I wasn't laughing back then. Do you even know how heavy 7 1/2 dozen duck eggs are? Oh My Goodness!!! I got my arm workout that day for sure.
So let me tell the story. Mom has a friend that lives in Hilo now, Aunty Gladys. Aunty Gladys has a niece. Her niece has ducks. Ducks lay eggs. Mom found this out on their recent trip to Hilo so Aunty Gladys said she would get some eggs for her to take home. However, mom's phone went swimming with her and refused to work after that so without her number, we couldn't contact Aunty. That's okay, next time. And guess who was the "next time". I was going to Honolulu for work and mom called just in time. Usually she asks for the motherload of Big Island Candies. Not this time. "Can you bring me home some duck eggs from my friend?" Um, okay, anything for mom. So Tai and I go to pick up the eggs. We were thinking one, MAYBE two dozen. We were highly mistaken. When Aunty Gladys said 7 1/2 dozen, I just couldn't believe it. But like I said, anything for mom.
