SURPRISE!!!!

On the sunday during my visit home, we were on our way out to go to Windward Mall for Aiko's ʻukulele performance. It was just Shawn, Aiko, Tyler, and I. On the way there, Shawn asked Aiko about her ʻukulele, and she said, "It's at T ūtū's house." I thought her mother was gonna flip. Hahaha. Good thing we were still in Kahaluʻu. So we were driving to Tūtū's house, which should be vacant, but there are cars parked in front. I only see this black car which I think is the Kobas. I really only see that car because I see the kids crouching behind of it. All I was thinking was how dare they not even call us to come hang out at Tūtū's. That is still the only thing on my mind as we drive towards the garage, passing ALL the cars in the yard. I don't even think I noticed. It wasn't till we actually pulled up to the garage and I saw everyone there in the safari jungle did I realize that it was my baby shower. I honestly had no clue, and was genuinely surprised.

During my pregnancy, I tried to prepare myself in the event that I wouldn't have a shower. Both of our families are on Oʻahu and Kauaʻi, and it didn't seem to make sense to have one and have to ship everything over. So I've cried many a times on Tai's shoulder about it. He told me, "Maybe they might make you one when you go home." Then I told him, "Don't say that. What if they don't?" So I just went on thinking that it wouldn't happen. And like I said in a previous post, I already felt SPESHO because they all came over two nights in a row to spend time together. That was enough for me. I didn't expect a shower.

But look how wonderful my family is. They took the time to spend with me, and then had to go home after and prepare for the shower. Some of them up till the wee hours of the morning. I am blessed. I hear it was a week of preparations, from cleaning the yard and garage, to buying and wrapping prizes, preparing the food, and then putting it all together. I have such a great ʻohana. My baby is lucky to be born in this one. =)

The shower was absolutely lovely. I loved that I was surprised, nobody blew it. Hahaha. The decorations were terrific. I love giraffes, and Tai likes monkeys, so they went with a safari type theme, but giraffes definitely stood out. The food was super ʻono. Games were fun, and prizes were fabulous. And we can't forget about the gifts. Blankets for days. LOL. hahaha. But the best was seeing everyone. It was truly the best day of my life. Wish Tai could have been there, but I was happy to have a day all to myself.
