A Hui Hou, Uncle Eddie.

In August of last year, Tai and I attended the Nonaka family reunion on Kauaʻi. The picture above is of the Nonaka children, Tai's mother and her brothers and sisters. One of the main reasons for the reunion was the failing health of Tai's Uncle Eddie (in the blue jacket). They have had more gatherings over the remainder of the year, which we were unable to attend, but over the Christmas break, Tai got to spend some time with the family again. This time was sadly spent in the hospital, but they were all there together and were there for Uncle Eddie's last days. He passed on January 3rd after being surrounded by his loved ones for Christmas and New Years. I think he held on just for that.

We attended the funeral services at Salt Pond in Hanapēpē two weeks later. It was lovely to see everyone again and even lovelier to hear all the kind words spoken of such a wonderful person. We will thoroughly miss you, Uncle Eddie.
