Ferris Wheels Are For Kids

YEAH RIGHT!!! I do not like the Ferris Wheel. I'd rather flip around in the Zipper than ride the Ferris Wheel. It looks like such a calm ride, but looks are deceiving. I have been noticing that I do not like heights. I get a little woozy. But the kids asked if I wanted to go, and my sisters brought up the fact that I could take some aerial shots. Hmmmm. Great for my blog. I also thought that this Ferris Wheel, the ones with the big carts, would be a whole lot better than the two seater, rinky-dink one. Oh I was very wrong. But no turning back, I was already in line. Pull it together and fight your fears.
Ola and Mānowai went in one cart by themselves. This was pretty funny because the guy asked them, "Only you two? Where are the girls?" Hahaha. Then Mānowai pointed to us getting in the next cart. "Right there." They never think that one through. Two teenage boys riding the Ferris Wheel by themselves. LOL. hahaha. Anyhoo, Yuki, Aiko, Tyler and I got into the next cart. There are no bars to lock you in, one center pole to hold on to, and the tiny flimsy door just swings open. No locks at all. WHAT??!! Oh boy!!!

They are still boarding people so before the ride really starts, I get a quick pic of Yuki and Aiko, and they take one of us.

Then it starts going and I try to hide my fear to be strong for the nieces. Not easy because Tyler starts screaming and grabbing on to me. I am laughing hysterically, not because I am having a blast, but because my stomach is spinning and Tyler is freaking me out. Defense mechanism maybe? I was a little distracted by the drama and couldn't take the aerial shots. Shoot, I had a hard time even looking out the cart.

Later, we were stopped toward the top as they started letting people off. Phew! Almost over. I feel a little better and I give Yuki the camera to take a pic of the boys. They were situated behind us at this point. Yuki moves forward on her seat to take the pic and the cart tilts ever so slightly. OMG!! "Yuki sit back!!" Hahaha. I start to freak out again. She tells me to wait because Ola wasn't looking. OMG!!! CLICK.

She passes the camera back to me and then I realized that I missed the golden opportunity to get all that drama on video. CRAP!!! So I just turned it on and did what I could with what was left of the ride.

Right at the beginning of the video, you can see my shoes gripping the center pole. I have the camera in my right hand, and I assume that my left is either gripping that pole, or holding on to Tyler. I think we are stopped because they are starting to let people off. You can tell when we start up again because Tyler starts wailing. You can see Aiko and Yuki grip the pole too. Then we start to rock. We were probably rocking very slightly, but it sure didn't feel like it. I couldn't tell if Tyler was playing but then you hear some real fear in her voice. It isn't easy for me to console her because all I can do is laugh just so I don't start freaking out too. If you listen carefully at the end, you can hear her ask if it's over. Hahahaha. Thank Goodness it was. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Try being up there with them. Nah, I can laugh hysterically about it now.
