Kamehameha Day

Spending Kamehameha Day in Kohala was something new for us. In fact, doing anything on Kamehameha Day is new to us. But what better way to celebrate our Aliʻi than in his hometown.
We enjoyed a quick parade, through town. A lot of horses in this one. Even tiny little kids on horses. Very impressive. I don't have many pictures because of the rain. I wasn't aware that it rained in Kohala, but apparently it does.
After the parade, we followed the route to the statue and got to see them draping more leis. NANI!!!!
We ran into some friends, the Kelekolios, originally from Hilo, now in Honolulu. Haven't seen them in awhile so we hung out with them at the ho'olauleʻa. Very nice day, but super hot. Kohala surprised me today.

Some of the paniolos.
